Use the same unit for the calculation

The calculation is: pack price in CHF divided by number of pods. A purely illustrative example: an assumed CHF 15 for 50 pods works out to CHF 0.30 per pod; an assumed CHF 42 for 150 pods works out to CHF 0.28. These are example figures, not current shop offers. For actual products, compare the selected pack and its current price.

The pod price is not yet the full cost per cup

For an espresso made with one portion, the coffee component costs the price of one pod. A cappuccino also uses milk or a plant-based drink. If you use two fresh portions for one drink, count two pods. Water, electricity, maintenance and appliance costs are not included in the pod price alone.

Look at the order total

Include delivery and any surcharges actually applied in your basket. A lower unit price alone does not show which order is cheaper overall. Compare the same quantity of products and the same delivery address. The total shown at checkout is what matters; a free-delivery threshold should not be a reason to buy more coffee than you need.

Plan pack size and consumption together

Work out how long your supply will last: at three brews per day, 150 pods work out to 50 days. Allow for days without coffee and different varieties used in the household. If you have not tried a blend before, a smaller pack that is actually offered may be the better first choice.

Leave missing information unresolved

Without a reliable pod count, you cannot calculate the price per pod. A weight does not automatically replace this number. When several pack options are offered, check which variant is selected. The E.S.E. range contains individual product information; compare only once the format, quantity and price for your selection are clear.

Questions and answers

Is a pack of 150 always cheaper per pod than a pack of 50?

You can determine this only from the current prices and pod counts. Calculate both prices per pod, then include the actual order costs.

How do I calculate my monthly pod use?

Multiply your average number of pods used per day by the number of coffee-drinking days in the month. Count pods rather than drinks if you use two portions for some cups.

Are the example prices on this page current offers?

No. They only explain the calculation. Your purchase is governed by the current price of the selected pack and the total costs in the basket.
